When I saw the press release for the Cork Globe, I immediately thought what a great idea. You can literally pin your travels on the quality cork – perfect for those who like to tick off places as they journey around the globe or plan their future travels. A perfect present for people who are difficult to buy for.
Although I had seen the dimensions written down (14 x 18 x 14cm), I didn't picture the real size so was a bit disappointed in the size which means that the simple world map printed in black is rather small and there are no place names. However, conveniently mounted on a stainless steel base, the globe does offer an unusual and distinctive decoration for your home.
Unless you are totally clued up on the geography of the world – and I am not – you will need an atlas to work out the various countries which comprise the continents. But this can be a great educational aid as you discuss with children where you have been on holiday and where you would like to go. It makes a fascinating focal point for talking about our world.
The globe comes with a set of red pin, but we have used other colours to represent different family members and places where we'd like to visit.
