The Cave Downwind of the Café by Mikey Please
Every night, Glumfoot dreams of delicious meals and every night he is served the same thing: his dad’s bogey broth. He is overjoyed one day to discover the new café at the edge of the woods – but when one very hungry ogre decides he’ll eat the owner, it’s down to Glumfoot to save the chef, and with it, his dreams of ever having a good meal.
A return visit to The Café at the Edge of the Woods which won the Waterstone's Children's Book Prize. Great fun to read its rhyming narrative out loud while you enjoy the brilliant illustrations. My only reservation is I don't like blocks of text in capital letters and there doesn't seem to be any reason to do so.

The Hunt for the Fog Town Moose by Stefania Aldana Trujillo
A photographer and his son are searching for a creature many talk about but few have ever seen … the Fog Town moose! They look high. They look low. But the town is foggy and the moose is an expert at hiding in plain sight. Will they manage to photograph the missing moose before it's time to catch the train home?
This is a charming story related by the little boy as he and his dad search for the elusive moose in a very foggy landscape. The illustrations are prefect and allow for lots of discussion between reader and child. It's the type of book to be read over and over again.

Another favourite now in paperback. Goat is delighted to be living a life of peace and solitude on his rock! Sun, sea and blue skies, what more could he possibly want? Quite a lot, it turns out. Can he find everything he needs to make his heart content?
Humorously told in rhyme, we discover all the things Goat misses and and has to pop home in his little rowing boat to collect. But what he he misses most has to be transported in a in a big ship...
Fabulously illustrated from Luke Scriven.
There's delightful repetition here which is what small children love.
