Backbone by Hilare WilceWhen I was asked by Endeavour Press for a quote to go on the cover of Backbone: How to Build The Character Your Child Needs To Succeed I was initially flattered and then apprehensive. What if I didn't like the book or agree with its premise? I needend have worried. Hilary Wilce's book is one I am delighted to endorse.

Backbone is extremely well-written and researched to help parents raise emotionally healthy children.

In "Chapter One: Character is Everything", Hilary Wilce writes: "the seeds of success... start to sprout well before school age.

"The more young children are able to master their temper and impulses, stick with a task, and pay attention, the more likely they are to do well at school, avoid teenage pitfalls like smoking, drug-taking and unplanned pregnancies, and grow up to enjoy good health and economic security."

And that is what we would all wish for our children. Backbone: How to Build The Character Your Child Needs To Succeed covers topics ranging from Love to Resilience, Honesty, Self-discipline, Kindness and Courage and how to engender these qualities in different age groups: pre-school, school-age and teenagers.

Backbone is easy to read and digest and is full of good, practical, down-to-earth advice. It's an excellent read for any mother or father whether they are at the beginning of their parenting journey or have reached the challenge of teenage offspring.

PWT rating: ♥♥♥♥♥
