Princess Disgrace First Term as Tall TowersPippa and I have just finished reading Princess DisGrace First Term at Tall Towers when Princess DisGrace starts her first term at Tall Towers Princess Academy. Grace can't wait to make friends, meet her unicorn and learn how to be a proper princess. Princess Grace is delightfully courageous, clumsy and kind and not the least bit graceful as traditional princesses are supposed to be.

Lou Kuenzler has created a great cast of princess pupils including Grace's snooty cousin Princess Precious, Trinket and Truffle the twins, best friends Scarlet and Izumi and the beautiful and kind headmistress Lady DuLac. Kimberley Scott's line illustrations are delightful and brought the cast to life, Pippa enjoyed the pictures and stars at the bottom of each page.

Princess DisGrace First Term at Tall Towers is a classic combination of boarding school adventure with a nod to Harry Potter, selfish mean girls, great friendships, adventures, life lessons learned and unicorns. Pippa loved the story and was excited that the Princesses were boarding, she found the deportment class very funny and laughed at the thought that the girls had to balance books on her head.

In Pippa's words, "I liked this book very much. This story is about Princess Grace who goes to a school for posh princesses called Tall Towers. She has a dirty unicorn and her hair is all messy, she only has one dress, her little sister is called Pip. There is a rude girl who is mean to her, her name is Precious and she is Grace's rude cousin. All the girls get unicorns as their school pet. The girls get to wear any princessy clothes they want. Princess Grace got a blue dress which was all lovely but later she gets it all mucky but it doesn't matter how messy you are as your friends always like you."

Princess Grace proved to be a true Princess - she showed courage, enthusiasm, talent, energy, dignity and true grace and that there's much more to being a princess than carrying books on your head and not tripping over!

We would recommend Princess DisGrace First Term at Tall Towers by  for any young readers.
