Children wear their school shoes for over 1,000 hours a year. Aside from needing comfortable shoes to avoid little ones’ complaints, the right support is essential for their developing posture, comfort, and lifelong foot health.
So ahead of the new school year, I have teamed up with Kickers, to share my professional guidance for back-to-school shoe shopping. I have also done an independent review of the Kickers Kick range, ensuring it meets the highest standards for support, durability, and fit.
Children spend hours on their feet at school, walking to and from classes, running and playing in the playground. Supportive shoes help to reduce foot tiredness, prevent injury and can help with overall posture.
Unsupportive shoes can cause an earlier onset of foot aches and pains, the further flattening of flat feet and poor posture. They can affect how a child walks, increasing their instability and risk of injury.
Parents need to look for shoes that have adjustable laces and a zipper down the side, or velcro fastenings. A heel that is round or curved at the back, with a rocker, is perfect for promoting heel-to-toe walking. Also, look for shoes that have a nice, wide toe box so they can accommodate a wide foot type and have room for growth.
