Run the London Marathon in support of Bliss the premature and sick babies’ charity

publication date: Aug 7, 2008

Are you a healthcare professional working with sick or premature babies and a keen runner or do you know someone who is?

In 2009 Bliss is celebrating its 30th birthday and is looking for healthcare professionals to join their birthday Bliss running team for the Flora London marathon on Sunday 26 April 2009.

Running a marathon can be a tough and gruelling challenge and is not for the faint-hearted. However, the reward is knowing that the money and awareness you raise will be helping Bliss to ensure the 80,000 babies born sick or premature every year in the UK have the best possible start in life. The services Bliss provides are vital to these babies and their families and are only possible with your support.

Nick Pearman who is running in the Bliss team says, “Running the London Marathon is one of the greatest experiences that anyone can have, not only for the most wonderful atmosphere but to know that raising money and awareness for babies born too soon or sick like myself.

"I did not have the best start in life being born three months early and weighing 910 grams with a 30 per cent chance of survival, having three blood transfusions and coping with severe jaundice. Thanks to the medical team that saved me, I would now like to run to raise money and awareness for Bliss and to give the tiny unwell babies the chance of a happy and healthy life that I now have.”

So, whether you already have your own place in next year’s London Marathon or are looking for a charity place, please get in touch by calling the Events Team on 020 7378 1122 or emailing louise@bliss.org.uk
