Shaun the Sheep the MovieFrom Aardman, the creators of Wallace & Grommit and Chicken Run, comes Shaun the Sheep: The Movie  now available on DVD, BluRay and Download. Having left the small screen tales, the creators of Shaun the Sheep have him leave his rural setting for the joys and terrors of the big city.

The premise of the story is that Shaun, tired of being bossed around by the farmer, wants a day off in the city. The repercussions of this include the farmer ending up hospitalised (and worse). With the farmer missing, the animals at the farm have to improvise (with a nod to George Orwell's Animal Farm, the pigs take over the farm house) until they realise they must find the farmer and bring him home an amazing adventure for Shaun, the flock and Bitzer, the dog with some hysterical scenes in a posh restaurant which will resonate with parents everywhere. The scene in the animal pound is reminiscent of the one in The Lady in the Tramp and just as poignant.

What is there not to enjoy in Shaun the Sheep: The Movie? Apart from the fact that Harriet (aged five) found some parts really scary – mainly in the character of Trumper, the animal warden – this film makes perfect family viewing with so many joyous laugh out loud moments and slapstick humour and a huge cheer from us when the bull puts a stop to Trumper's maniacal menace. Plus there's a nice little nudge to us all to remember to appreciate what we have in life and the people we love and love us.

For adults and older children I really recommend watching the Extras which show just how much love and thought has gone into making this marvellous movie.

This is a film which is really worth owning as you see different things on each viewing.
