Halloween pumpkinI'm not a great fan of trick or treating especially seeing unaccompanied children at my door! However Halloween parties and supervised outings can be great fun for children of all ages.

It doesn't take much artistic skill to create spider and witch motifs but if you're hard pressed for time Wilko has a range of inexpensive accessories from bunting to spider cup cake holders.

Harriet and I tried out the Wilko Pumpkin Carving Set with great results as you can see! The set includes a scoop, poker and carving knife, all suitable (under supervision) for small hands and fingers.

Halloween Poster - the Garlic FarmIf you have enough pumpkin flesh why not try out our Halloween pumpkin soup recipe?

Or for some face painting ideas see our Halloween cat  or instructions for a Halloween vampire.

It's always nice to let passing trick or treaters know if you welcome visitors. Some people like to leave a pumpkin on view  but if you haven't got one The Garlic Farm on the Isle of Wight has produced a lovely poster to download and print so you can attach it to your door.
