Monopoly Millionaire

Monopoly Millionaire is a much shorter game, as the aim is to "make a million", something which Charlotte found very easy to do! The game was "officially" over relatively quickly (considering how long the original Monopoly game can go on for) but we continued playing, acquiring different place cards and losing money – I think that might just have been me!

During the first race around the board, each place name has a card faced down which you have to follow when you land on it. Each card varies from being able to take another player's place card without them stopping you (and visa versa!) or moving you further along the board.

Some cards also state that you either have to buy the card or auction it, sometimes for less than the value. Although this is exciting, we found that later on in the game there were few properties to buy as so many had already gone and it seemed easier/cheaper to buy houses/hotels in this version.

I think Monopoly Millionaire would be better with four players rather than two.

The smaller board has no stations (I love to collect all the stations so this was a disappointment to me). Each time you pass go you are given the opportunity to pay to upgrade your current mode of transport around the board. For example the push scooter turns into an electronic one. I like this idea, and with an upgrade you are able to acquire more money if you land on certain things, through a numerical star system.

Overall, I prefer the original version of Monopoly, although the place names might now be slightly dated.

The aim of the game to make a million is too easy and changes the fun element. Technically could win if you just followed a certain path. Plus stealing cards seem a bit immoral and auctioning isn't fun with just two players.

I  hate new names but like the modern look and feel, good adaptation of chance/community chest cards. Overall, I prefer the original Monopoly. It's a classic that doesn't need to be changed much.
