Maths Wrap is a gadget for teaching times tables. Basically it is a plastic thingy with two windows into which slide various pieces of card, one with times table questions, the other with the answers. You have to match the question with the answer by wrapping the string around the correct notches (not in order).

You then check your answer by looking at the printed pattern on the back of the slidey card to see if it matches your winding. Hard to explain, easy to do.

One of my sons is dyscalculic so maths activities and times tables are a turn off. He loved the Maths Wrap and has spent time doing it in the car and has really enjoyed it. It is very kinaesthetic and fiddly and appeals to that side of children which enjoys weaving and sewing. You can also undo it if you go wrong and it is easy to carry around.

Also comes with instructions with a booklet of unusual and fun maths facts, which he also enjoyed. Recommended for any child with shaky times table knowledge but certainly ages seven to 12 at least.

The Maths Wrap costs £6.35 and is available from www.zoobookoo.com
