Learn Italian for your holiday with Tony Buzan

publication date: Apr 1, 2009

Tony Buzan, international memory guru and creator of Mind Maps®, has teamed up with bilingual dictionary experts Collins Publishers to unleash Language Revolution – an easy-to-use and fun way to learn French, Spanish or Italian.

This unique concept in language learning that will have you chatting away easily and fluently in all sorts of everyday situations. Each pack (the immensely popular Beginner rrp £19.99, and new Beginner Plus rrp £22.50) contains a beautifully put together and lavishly illustrated book and two audio CDs, with 24/7 interactive online learning back-up.

What makes Language Revolution so different is that is combines the classic techniques of audio and visual learning with the power of the imagination and creativity of Mind Maps.

Mind Maps, described as "the most powerful thinking tool of our time", use the entire range of mental skills – word, image, number, logic, rhythm, colour and spatial awareness – to embed knowledge and understanding of a new language. Used at the end of each section, they will help "fix" the words and phrases in the memory.

Each chapter of the book uses a "traffic light" system to introduce new vocabulary. Green is for those words (up to 40 per cent of everyday vocabulary) that look and mean more or less the same in the new language.

Amber words (around 20 to 40 per cent of the average vocabulary) look familiar in the new language but don’t mean exactly what they appear to.

Visual association works best for memorising red words. These are the unguessable sort, so having a strong image to link them to in your mind really helps lock them in your memory.

Mental Gymnastic exercises in each chapter, assistance with pronunciation and speaking practise while using the CDs completes the range of revolutionary language learning techniques.

We have two sets of the Language Revolution Beginner and new Beginner Plus Italian versions up for grabs, together worth £42.49, or you can order online at www.buzanworld.com
