From the moment we opened the 120 Connetix Pastel Creative Pack the children (aged seven and three) were captivated and excited. I myself thought "Wow"!
From this very positive start it got even better. This magnetic tile set is fantastic. My daughter believes it to be the best educational "toy" they have had to review. And we have had a few.
What is in this Connetix Pastel Creative Pack? There are 120 tiles of magnetic shapes, different size squares, isosceles, right angles and equilateral triangles, some filled in and some open. The tiles easily stick together, magnetically, to build a whole range of imaginative toys & structures. There are also smaller and different sets, so you can start small and grow or, like I intend to do, expand.
It is one of a series of construction magnetic shape kits produced by this company that allow children to explore 2D, 3D, number and learn language, social skills and lots more. It covers the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) well and would be a valuable addition to resources for home educators. It does make you think what doesn’t it encourage children to do?
The pack arrives in a very sturdy but tight fitting box. After emptying out and "playing", putting away into the same storage box is in itself a mathematical challenge. However learning a lesson – once put back into the box – I took a photo so that the next time I had a "jigsaw" to follow.
This kit is providing hours and hours of enjoyment for our two grandchildren and, as important, their mother and grandmother. I find it captivating. It is perfect for a wide range of ages, but children under three will need closer supervision.
There is a very useful, well put together and helpfully illustrated booklet, that comes with the kit, showing a whole range of 2D and 3D shapes to be made, even reptiles. The only disappointment is that some of the constructions in the booklet can’t be made using this kit alone. A very good marketing ploy though as I’m now proposing to buy other kits such as cars and roll-ons. These being excellent ideas for future presents.
I’ve found it quite difficult to write a review for such an amazing item. However I hope our family’s immense enjoyment and fun with 120 Connetix Pastel Creative Pack shows through. It really has to be tried to be believed! When asked "how is it for you?" both our grandchildren gave it a huge double thumbs’ up! Needless to say I highly recommend 120 Connetix Pastel Creative Pack.
