Lakeland Vegetable SpiralizerEver since Harriet and I went to Planet Hollywood to review the child-friendliness of the restaurant, and Harriet discovered carrot spirals, we have been searching for something to make them at home.

Lakeland have come to the rescue with their Vegetable Spiralizer which fits the bill perfectly.

The machine measures 27 by 22cms and is easily stored especially as the three blades are stowed away within the appliance. It has four suction feet to stabilise it so it was ideal for Harriet to be the first to operate it. You need to apply a little pressure as you turn the handle but once she'd got the hang of it, she concentrated on producing the longest cucumber ribbon possible.

The other two blades offer thin and thick spirals ideal for carrots and courgettes and any other vegetable you'd care to experiment with. This is an innovative way to get children interested in preparing vegetables – and eating them.

Although the packaging says the Vegetable Spiralizer is dishwasher safe, the accompanying instruction and recipe booklet advises against putting the blades in the dishwasher as the salts and detergents may blunt them.
