Effortlessly, The Olive Press combines being a “real” restaurant for those precious babysitter evenings, with looking after professionals post-work, and for our current purposes offers a really good experience for children and families. Part of the Heathcotes family of North West eateries, the place has style and comfort without being uptight and prissey on the one hand, or as laid back as your front room on the other.

At The Olive Press you will get all you would expect from the best big pizza/Italian chains, and so much more, with an extensive and interesting menu - pretty good for vegetarians and really good for carnivores.

Standard menu average prices:

  • Appetizers £4
  • Starters £5.50
  • Mains, salads & pizza £8
  • Plus a selection of really meaty stuff at £12 plus.

There are usually specials with meat, fish and veggie options.

The kids menu, £7.50 (under threes eat free) including main, pudding and drink, is good and fun. Our kids love the make your own pizzas, and with some choices, there’s a “5 a day” vegetable selection. The only drawback for our kids is that there’s none of the frothy milk cappuccino imitation that you can get at… well…. at a certain other place.

Service is friendly, attentive to children as well as adults, and accommodating – very willing to heat up baby food or provide hot water. Furniture comfortable and robust so no need to worry about knocking it over. Slips and spills sorted as just one of life’s great joys. High chairs available, colouring menus with games and seasonal colouring pictures provided, and baby changing facilities in the disabled toilet.

It also has to be said loudly and clearly, the garlic bread is out of this world!

We really like The Olive Press and the chance to go and review was... well one of life’s great joys too!
