tantrum at Hamleystantrum - a children's hair salon in the Kings Road, London - has just opened a smaller salon, aimed primarily at girls aged between five and ten years old, in Hamleys. Situated on the third (girls) floor of the famous toy store, the brightly coloured pink boutique is eye-catching and fun.

The salon is the first thing you see when you reach the top of the escalator and the open plan format means your little girl will want to take a closer look. Tantrum offers hair styling (£10 to £20), nail painting (£7) and light make-up (glitter and gloss) can also be applied. tantrum can also host your little girl's dream birthday party with themes like High School Musical and Mamma Mia to the ultimate Hamleys Sleepover Party package priced at £4,500! (Full details can be found on the website www.Hamleys.com).

Lauren at tantrum, HamleysI took my five year old daughter, Lauren, to tantrum for a little bit of pampering and she loved it. She was seated at a long nail bar by the stylist, Latasha, who chatted to Lauren and asked her what she wanted. She had her nails painted bright pink with cute daisy nail art on top. She also had some glitter and gloss applied to her hair and face. Lauren loved the overall look.

Behind the stylist, so in direct view of the children, are three flat screen televisions playing clips from movie favourites like High School Musical, which kept Lauren's attention while she was having her nails painted - a brilliant idea. The salon also sells lots of girlie products ranging from jewellery boxes to tiaras and also stocks tantrum's own range of shampoos, conditioners and tangle sprays all priced at £3 to £3.50.

Overall I would say that visiting tantrum is a wonderful treat for any little girl and if you are in Hamleys you would definitely be drawn to the salon. It is a little on the expensive side, but a lovely experience for mother and daughter nonetheless.
