I recall as a teenager that I would occasionally use talcum powder to try to disguise greasy hair but it never worked and I always ended up looking like I had fallen head first into a flour sack! I was therefore a little sceptical about dry shampoos, but was pleasantly surprised by Shampowder.

This product comes in an all-in-one container with applicator brush that you simply dab on to your scalp. The instructions are clear and easy to follow and from the first use, the powder comes out at an even rate. Given the talcum powder disasters of my youth, I really liked the fact that this powder is flesh coloured and disappears very quickly with brushing, leaving no tell-tale dusty residue. It is incredibly easy to use and, once finished the applicator brush is neatly stowed away. The compact size means it can fit easily in to your handbag.

Shampowder did make my hair appear considerably less greasy. Whilst dry shampoos are no substitute for a good wash, it is definitely worth having to hand for emergencies, such as when (as I recently did following the clocks going forward) you fall asleep again after the alarm has gone off, leaving no time to wash your hair! Its compact size means that it would also be great for travelling or camping, when you may not be able to wash your hair as frequently as you might wish to.

Shampowder does have an overpowering smell of vanilla, which is an added bonus if you like that fragrance, but a downside if you don’t!
