RSPB Bird WatchRSPB Big Garden Bird Watch is a fantastic activity to get all the family involved in taking note of the birds in your vicinity.

Bird populations are a great indicator of the health of the countryside. That's why it's so important to take part in surveys like the Big Garden Bird Watch to keep an eye on the ups and downs of the wildlife where we live.

All you need to do is spend an hour over the weekend of 25 to 26 January counting the birds in your garden. If you don't have a garden you could pop to a park or any place where you can watch birds.

To take part register here and you'll be sent reminders and a free guide and a £5  RSPB shop discount to get you started.

The more people involved, the more the RSPB can learn. Over 590,000 people took part last year and  8.2 million birds counted.

So join in the fun, register and then decide which hour you'll set aside to go bird watching.

The RSPB website had some fabulous resources and great things to make and do including making a bird feeder.
