Peter Rabbit DVDWhen Daniel and Charlotte (both aged four) received the Peter Rabbit DVD Tales of the Start of Spring they were thrilled because Peter Rabbit on CBeebies is their favourite programme and this DVD didn’t disappoint.

The episodes on the DVD are a charming animation of Beatrix Potter’s famous characters. In bright, spring like-colours the tales tell of the caring Peter, who always looks out for others, and his chums, particularly timid Benjamin and the practical Lily. Of course, there is always danger in the woods with Mr. Todd, the fox , Tommy Brock, the badger and the terrifying owl, three characters always on the look-out for a tasty rabbit dinner.

Daniel and Charlotte both love and hate these characters: (Daniel, ”Is it time to hide behind the chair now?”) so much so that their favourite tale on the DVD is The Tale of the Terrible Trap which includes all three plus the infamous Mr McGregor. As well as this and the title tale there are six other episodes to enjoy.  Other favourites are The Tale of Benjamin’s New Map and The Tale of the Secret Treehouse which also includes the irrepressible squirrels.

All in all, Tales of the Start of Spring is a delightful DVD which will keep the young ones entranced but with enough humour and charm to keep the adults entertained too.  Daniel and Charlotte recommend it.
