Music for movementSo much of the music marketed for a young audience revolves around nursery rhymes and songs performed by well-known children's entertainers. While there is nothing wrong in that it can get a little repetitive. There's only so many times the Grand Old Duke of York can go up and down the hill or the wheels turn on the bus before adults want out!

Music for Movement and Imaginations is a fabulous arrangment of music for young children whether or not the go to ballet classes. Harriet, who's three and does go to ballet classes, was enchanted by the cover of the CD as well. As soon as the music started she danced around the room.

There are 43 tracks on Music for Movement and Imaginations so there is plenty to chose from. Each track has some indication of what the dancer should be doing from stretching to pliés, running to marching, jumps or dancing with scarves. This guidance is very useful for parents and teachers alike.  There are several "Dance-a-Story" tracks with sample stories included.

Music for Movement and Imaginations is a perfect introduction for young children to the wonderful world of dance and music. I highly recommend Richard Maddock's composition, arrangement and and performance – and Harriet, who never tires of playing this CD and dancing, does too.
