Moltex Oko nappyWe use washable nappies, for both environmental and economic reasons, but were very interested to try a disposable that was more environmentally friendly – particularly for use when out and about and on holiday.

We tried the Moltex Oko Mini, for newborn babies of 3kg up to babies of 6kg. Over the time we tried them, our son has ranged in weight from 3.5kg to 4.1kg, and we both felt that the nappy was really large on him; he's a long baby with very slim hips, and the tabs almost cross over at the front even now.

In terms of ease of use, they are very similar to other disposables, in that they are shaped the same way and also have re-sealable tabs. They were quite quick to put on even though Oscar's a wriggler, and he seemed quite comfortable in them, especially at night when he normally wakes up the minute he's wet and uncomfortable.

Performance-wise they were pretty good, with good absorption and only a few leaks – a few times he ended up with wee up his back (not sure how that happened!). Moltex Oko nappies contained the poo really well and drew the wee away from his body well - so much so that it was sometimes almost impossible to tell when he'd peed!

Moltes Oko nappy packI like the fact that the packaging is compostable, and that there's no chemical smell when the nappies are wet and that they are much more biodegradable than the big brands.

Overall we were pretty happy with their performance, and if we decide to use disposables when out or on holiday then we would definitely consider these, especially when Oscar's a bit bigger.

The new improved Moltex Öko nappies start at £10.15 for a bag of 48 and are available online at www.naturebotts.co.uk
