The Melobaby all-in-one nappy/diaper wallet and change mat is a neat little package which holds all the essentials for nappy changing on the go. It is cleverly designed and well made, and is stylish enough to have attracted some admiring comments at my NCT group meetings. I like it a lot, and it also gets the thumbs up from my husband for being compact and “not embarrassingly girly”.
The wallet is made of a chocolate-brown, wipe-clean fabric and measures 25.5cm by 17cm when closed. It has a carry handle and a magnetic clasp (the magnets for which are embedded in the fabric) which I can close easily with one hand. A pocket on the back contains a transparent/zebra-print plastic zip-up purse which is designed to hold a dozen or so loose wipes, though I use it for storing nappy sacks.
The wallet opens once to reveal four pockets, one of which is zipped and made of mesh. I have found that these will easily accommodate a small pack of wipes and either about four newborn nappies or a couple of nappies and a muslin. When you open the wallet out further you get to the 
changing mat. This is made of lime-green soft fleece and has a wipe-clean reverse side. Embedded magnets are again employed to attach it to the rest of the wallet, so it too can be detached and re-affixed with one hand. It is machine washable.
The advertising blurb for this product states that it was designed by a mum who perfected it over four years, changing her two daughters on various prototypes as they travelled together around the world. I haven’t attempted anything as adventurous with my children but I find the Melobaby useful for slipping into my handbag when I want to travel light and don’t need my usual roomy nappy bag with its assorted paraphernalia. In fact, one of the reasons that I like this wallet so much is that it allows me not to feel as though I’m dragging the kitchen sink around with me.
I managed perfectly well before I got the Melobaby wallet, but it is one of those feel-good products that I would be sorry now to be without.
