Lip Balms

Herpatch prevention stick £4.99
Classified as a medical device, the Herpatch prevention stick is a moisturising balm with a high level sun protection factor (SPF30). As well as hydrating your lips, it has been developed with zinc, aloe vera and other skin protectants, which will help to prevent recurrent Herpes labialis. As anyone who has suffered from cold sores will know, the sun certainly doesn't help so having this high SPF level is a real bonus. Available from Boots.

Stop Cracking up, Anatomicals £2.45
Give your pout some clout and protect your pucker this summer with the fabulously fruity flavoured SPF lip balm from Anatomicals, and available from Boots. This was the clear favourite of the lip balms tested.

purepotions Lavender Rescue Salve 15ml, £4.65
Calming natural salve suitable for use on minor burns, sunburn, chapped skin as well as being a moisturising lip salve - available from purepotions. This is more difficult to apply as it is quite solid in the tin but it worked better on holiday when the weather was warmer!
