Lansinoh Electric PumpThe Lansinoh Double Electric Breast Pump is simple and easy to use, with comfort-fit breast flanges for a comfortable and secure fit, separately adjustable speed and suction levels, a quick change button to switch between let-down and expression phases and an easy to read LCD screen.

When using the pump I found sitting the most comfortable position to be in, as I felt relaxed. Generally I would only need to pump for ten minutes to get 4 to 5oz, enough for one feed. The pump has been specially designed to achieve maximum milk flow, whilst imitating as closely as possible a baby's natural sucking rhythm. The let-down phase lasts for two minutes, but can be changed to the expression phase if your milk comes through sooner. The suction and expression levels can be adjusted before or during an expression session – although it can sometimes get a bit fiddly if you are holding both bottles and don't have a spare hand! One can also go back to the let-down phase, by pressing the quick-change button, to increase or start milk flow again. I often had to do this at the beginning to increase my milk supply, as I was not getting very much from one express.

As I was returning to university and wanted to avoid giving Harriet formula I have been using the Lansinoh Double Electric Breast Pump regularly, to build up a good store of milk and to encourage Harriet to take from a bottle (something which she is not keen on).

All bottles and parts of the pump (excluding the tubing and LCD monitor) are dishwasher-safe, which is great if you are using it every day – as I am - as it saves a lot of washing up!  The pump can be battery operated. The chord on the plug is long, so it reaches from a socket to a table and although it takes a lot of batteries (6 AA – not included), this means it can be used wherever you are or feel most comfortable. The pump is portable and light too.

The pump includes everything needed to express – but you might want to invest in some Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags too (or fill up your ice cube trays).
