Bike Runner from GaltMovement is an important part of a child’s development as it forms the basis for all areas of learning. Although a sense of balance isn't fully developed until about the age of 12, studies have shown that giving small children the opportunity to practise their gross and fine motor skills are more likely to do well intellectually.

In order for children to sit still and remain still, they must have developed considerable balance and body control skills. This skill will help them make the transition to school and more formal learning.

Harriet has virtually grown up on her micro scooter – it's a joy to see how she now whizzes along at speed and with such panache. Now she has graduated to a balance bike and the one we had for review is Galt's Bike Runner.

Apart from obviously being a fore-runner to riding a bike, the balance bike helps promote new skills – the upper body is being encouraged to sit and hold steady while the lower body is able to move freely. Riding the balance bike helps develop physical strength plus encourages a child to face new challenges with increasing confidence.

Harriet was delighted with the arrival of the Bike Runner and was a little apprehensive at first but as she'd seen friends riding their balance bikes she was not to be outdone.

The Bike Runner is sturdy without being heavy so perfect for a little body and Harriet is becoming increasingly confident riding it. It also is robust enough to withstand minor "crashes". The seat looks comfy and, of course, red is one of Harriet's favourite colours.
