Chicken Out! from GibsonsFollowing the success of their TfL licensed card game, Mind the Gap, the independent jigsaw puzzle and board games company, Gibsons, has released Chicken Out!, a fun and educational family card game for two to six players that is perfect for children aged seven plus.

Presented in a bright and quirky tuck box – Harriet loved the cut-out chicken on the front of the box – Chicken Out! was invented by games scholar David Parlett and encourages players to play their cards with the aim of reaching 21. Each player in turn plays the top card of their pile, adding the value to the previous player's total and announces the new count. Piles of cards reaching 21 are put aside as the tension mounts...

This game is rather like pontoon with the stick and bust options. However, hidden among the flock are 10 cheeky foxes that will either help or hinder each player's chances of winning. The fox cards can double the score or return it to zero so you never know what's coming next! The first player to run out of cards rules the roost and wins the game.

Harriet aged seven soon got the hang of the game and loved reading the instructions on the fox cards.

The perfect small gift or a great stocking-filler.
