Gibsons: Call The Midwife

Despite mums being busier today than ever before, they still have time to sort the corners from the straight edges with their kids, according to a survey conducted by Gibsons, Britain’s oldest family-owned games company.

The survey asked three generations of mums if they once did jigsaw puzzles as children, and if they now do them with their children. Interestingly, more mums are completing puzzles with their children today, compared to 30 or 40 years ago, based on the survey results, with 60 per cent of UK grandparents saying their parents did puzzles with them, compared to 76 per cent of parents with children at home today.

So jigsaws are definitely on the list of desirable presents for Mother's Day.

Gibsons are renowned for their puzzles and have been in existence since 1919 so will soon be celebrating their centenary. They have an amazing range of jigsaws that cater for the very young to the more discerning adult. Gibsons, still run as a family concern, continues to thrive and adds new images each year.

Of particular interest for those who love TV drama series are Downton Abbey and Call the Midwife – both of them 1000 pieces retailing at £12.99.

We had Call the Midwife for review – it's a lovely photo-montage of the ever=popular series showing some of its iconic moments: Jennifer cycling through the streets of post-war Poplar,  Chummy's wedding, tea at the convent and so on. Just spot your favourite characters and some of the babies who they delivered.

Measuring 68 by 49cm, Call the Midwife is of excellent quality and presents an impressive challenge. An ideal gift for Mothering Sunday or any other time or occasion.
