the walrus and the carpenterThe Children's Trust was set up in 1984 to help severely disabled children and their families. They are marking their 25th anniversary with the pblication of a book of favourite poems nominated by the likes of Jacqueline Wilson, Quentin Blake and Sienna Miller and many others.

There are lots of old favourites here including Lewis Carroll's Jabberwocky as well as The Walrus and the Carpenter, the book's title, as well as new or less well known poems. I particularly enjoyed Today I had a Rotten Day by Paul O'Grady and, judging by their reaction to poet performer Neil Stevens, so did the young guests at the launch in London.

This is a lovely book and a great introduction to poetry for children - whether to read by themselves or to have read to them. A perfect Christmas stocking-filler.

The Walrus and the Carpenter costs £4.99 and is available from www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk

All profits from sales of the book go to The Children's Trust.
