Allergy-free Cookbook by Alice Sherwood

publication date: Jul 5, 2007

They say that you can't judge a book by its cover however the cover of the Allergy-free Cookbook by Alice Sherwood is interesting, bright and vibrant, which is a good reflection of the recipes contained inside. The book is well laid out and has very clear illustrations.

I have a nine year-old son who is allergic to dairy and it is a challenge to get good home-made meals on to the table that the whole family can enjoy. I was very impressed by both the variety and diversity of the meals. What's more they tasted good too!

We enjoyed the Thai green curry and the chicken pie is now a family favourite. All we can we say about the chocolate brownies is "delicious"!!!

The recipes are easy to follow and it is very clear what needs to be substituted to suit which diet.

However, this is not just a cookbook. The section on living with allergies is very informative and helpful. The chapter about travelling is extremely useful. I didn't know such things as dietary alert cards existed, what a great idea.

I enjoyed cooking from this book and look forward to being able to serve up more all-round good meals for all the family to enjoy.

I'd recommend  Allergy-free Cookbook to anyone who enjoys cooking, an asset in any kitchen.

All recipes are approved by Allergy UK and the foreword is written by the book's medical advisor, Consultant Paediatric Allergist, Dr Adam Fox.
